The Film Society

The Film Society is a volunteer run, not for profit community cinema initiative which was established in 2011 by a group of dedicated film lovers.

At the end of the first season the Film Society won the Best New Film Society Award at the British Federation of Film Societies annual awards ceremony, gaining commendations for Best Programming and Best Marketing and Publicity and founder of  the Film Society, David Saitch, won an award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual.

The aim of the Film Society is to provide the residents of Hurstpierpoint and the surrounding area with access to a diverse range of the best films available from around the world. These films might be recent films that have not had the ex[posure they should, or films from the past which have been missed or forgotten.

Saturday Cinema

The Saturday Cinema shows family films on the Saturday afternoon following the Film Society Screening.

Doors open at 2.30 and the film starts at 3.00

There is no membership for the Saturday Cinema, but we do require any children under the age of 7 to be accompanied by an adult. Children over the age of 7 can be left alone at screenings, but parents should be aware that we are not providing any official childcare. We do take precautions to ensure that these screenings are held in as safe an environment as possible, including having a member of the team present to monitor the auditorium and help any children that need it and ensuring that no-one over the age of 18 is allowed in unless accompanying a child.

If you do leave your child at the theatre, please ensure you are there in good time to pick them up at the end of the film.

All tickets for the Saturday Cinema cost £3.50.

Coffee and cakes are on sale to Mums and Dads, and a range of sweets and soft drinks are on sale to the children.
